Grandmother
Your love was a love that came straight from the heart
It was loving, caring and true.
It reflected off each of your grandchildren
And was given right back to you.
Your smile was a smile that lit up a room
It was warm, happy and bright.
It helped us to remember the good times through the bad
Turned our darkness into light.
Your hand was a hand that held our hands too
It was old and shaking but strong;
In our times of trouble and times of fear
It helped us to move along.
Your mind was a mind filled with advice and knowledge
It was smart, bright and wise;
Who did we come to with our worries and problems
It was you from whom we'd seek our advice.
Your face was a face filled with beauty and courage
It was soft, delicate, and beauty shone through your eyes.
Many kisses had been given from cheek to cheek
A place where happiness lied.
Your voice was a voice that we all loved to hear
It was sweet and loving and calm.
Telling many stories to your grandchildren
Singing many babies to sleep with a song.
Your heart was a heart that has shown love to many
It was strong, loving and sharing.
Giving things to those who need it most
It was us to whom you showed you’re caring.
Your feet were feet that had walked for miles
Through snow, and wind and rain.
Miles walked for everyone in your life
Even when you were in moments pain.
A grandmothers love is the strongest love of all
It is strong and caring and true
I was so lucky to have a grandmother in my life
And I was so fortunate that it was you.
These words are words that cannot describe how much you meant to me
They are precise and brief but they are true
I wish you could see all that you are to me
And what you meant to all of the people around you.
A grandma is a person who we all want to be
Wise and strong and honest.
A painter takes paint and makes a masterpiece
And for us you were the artist.
The picture you painted is filled with love
It is funny and beautiful, both old and new.
You painted your whole family, and like a tree;
Our branches may grow in different directions, but will always trace back to you.
For you are the roots in which we come from
And nothing can change that.
I love you so much that I cannot explain
But, for you I would run to the moon and back.
Your love was a love that came straight from the heart
It was loving, and caring and true.
It reflected off each of your grandchildren
And was given right back to you.
