The battle
It lingers impatiently,
An expectant cast upon it.
It begs, “Have you completed it yet?”
His forehead creases, “No.”
How could he have with such short years?
Not quite enough laughs, adventures,
Not quite enough life.
“You will begin anew, a bright elated life,” it allures.
He frowns, “How so bright with my heart left behind?”
It smiles, “Your heart will rise alongside,
Holding the memory of your loved ones,
As your memory is kept in theirs.”
He decides, “Take me if you will,
But I mustn’t give up.”
