'Cause you can say many things but what's written in black and white are what matters most.

He said welcome home
As I walked through the door
Standing there with a smile
Arms wide open, waiting
What is he thinking?
Did he miss me while I was gone?
Did he cry for me when he finally figured out?
Or did he laugh it all off and already knew what would happen
Does he see how much a coward I am
Am I weak in his eyes
Or do I stand strong
For going after what I believe in
I left behind so much to chase my dreams
My family, my home, my first true love
And yet he stands there before me
Arms wide open, smile on his face
Reaching for me, holding me tight
Reminding me why I came back
And though his warmth fills me
His words touch my heart
He still whispers to me
"Welcome Home"

I'm not exactly sure why I wrote this, it just came to mind. But it's short and sweet and filled with meaning if you know where to look for it. I hope that when you read this you'll realize that in order to chase your dreams, you have to leave some things behind but they will always be there waiting for you to come back.

I would rather you hate me for all that I am then love me for something I'm not.

This was a very well-written poem. And very true. It had a lot of emotion :) Great job!
