Sometimes I wish you had covered my eyes more
I know I told you not to
I know I told you I didn’t care
But I was just a kid
What did I know?
I wonder who I’d be if I never saw the blood
Never held the marijuana
Never had to call 911 for you
Maybe my childhood was always a ticking bomb
but couldn’t you have laid your hands
your warm, soft, hands over my eyes
and made it last a little longer
