Altered
They said we'd never be the same

 We begged to differ

But now we stare at what remains

 We follow the prejudice

 And chase the taunting names...

 I can't help but wonder

If flowing the beaten and broken path

 Was a systematic blunder

 The memories are the strangest

We've been through so many changes

We couldn't wait to be stronger

 And now we find ourselves...

 Waiting even longer

 Our old selves slipped away

 We paid the price,

 We couldn't afford to pay

 Every day...

We search for the heart so kind

 The best part of us

 The part we couldn't find...

Somewhere along our journey, we faltered

 Forever since,

 We've been altered
