When the calendar shifts
and spring arrives,
I know that happiness
is not far behind

During this time,
I was fortunate to hear,
the sound of Niehaus
filling my ears.

This year is different,
for we have all lost,
the golden-voiced man
who was here from the start.

Dave made everything magical
for both young and old,
with his smooth southern drawl
he painted pictures with his words

On that horrible dreary day,
all I could think to do
was sit back and cry,
my oh my.

As the days have gone by
the pain has started to fade,
though it will probably hit home
come Opening Day
