The river flows
My boats adrift
The things I see
Are mine alone

With my secrets aboard
And treasured thoughts in a box
I envision my goals in the distance
As past decisions drift to the shore line

The water reflects images of
Loved ones, loved times
Splashing their memory onto my face
I float on

Twists and turns
Threaten to slow me down
But I persist
Into the beautifully painted horizon

To board this boat is not by choice
The things I see are mine alone
To board this boat I must first speak
For you can not read my mind
Alone

This poem is a comparison of a boat on a river to my mind.
