The Music of Music
An orchestra plays,
its symphony puncturing the eardrums and the heart.
A rock band performs
to a stadium of screaming fans.
The lyrics reflect personal experience and talent.
The high school choir sings their harmonies.
Everything escaping their tongue
boasts strength and meaning.
Voices blend and signify teamwork and trust.
An organ plays
as the congregation sings hymns.
The songs praise God and teach lessons.
All united for the same purpose and belief.
Songs are the prayers of the worshippers.
All the different music plays
at different times and places.
They shine all in their own way.
Whether for drama, or feelings, or teachings;
all music has just one purpose.
To change lives.
