What my luck

What my luck,
that my parents moved in the middle of summer.
What my luck,
that I had to leave all my friends.

What my luck,
that I spent summer with nobody.
What my luck,
that I missed football tryouts.

What my luck,
that I ate lunch alone today.
What my luck,
that I sat in the back in every class.

But how lucky was I,
to have that last teacher.
The teacher that made everything seem
like I wasn’t in space anymore.

I guess I’m lucky,
to have a teacher who cares
about the new kid.
That teacher that made me lucky.
