Earthy Borders

Spires of black and brown line the horizon,
Separating like perforation sky from earth.
Slicing the sky like a serrated hack saw,
Concealing light early and late, conspiring.
Sunrise, Sunset - A cradle of diminished glow -
Past that, more giants shielding the sun.
The dull reds and oranges clashing with gray,
Occurring each night and every day.
Hello-Goodbye stars, lunar nemeses
Resting upon black velvet blanket,
Laying tranquilly upon those jagged teeth
Standing at eternal attention,
Watchmen, minutemen immortal, alert.
Resting silently, forever inert.
