The Sky
The moon hovered above my backyard
Just like on any other night
The wind is calm
The night is warm
A smell of chemically treated lawn invades my nostrils
The bonfire ticked to the sound of crickets
Just like any other bonfire night
The squirrels were jumping on the bald trees
Just like on any other night
The sky is lit with stars like on any other night
But when I saw the cancer pattern in the sky
The Darkest mass in the area
It took over and all other stars ran for cover
I remember you as a great guy.
I still can’t understand why this night
You ended that long lasting fight.
