I hear the thunder crack a whip
and I wish you were here.

I see the wind bend the branches
and I wish you'd taught me fear

I smell the rain through the glass
and how I wish that you could cheer

I feel the mud between my toes
that you couldn't stand to bear

I cross the bridge to your house
in my nightgown, you're the air

I walk with silence to the grave
and I know that you are there
