Her eyes are wide
Mascara plastered to lashes that
Could never naturally grow
To their current length.
Bright red lipstick contrasts
Her abnormally white, straight teeth.
Her white coat lays perfectly in place.
Why should she be worried,
When she has nothing to hide?

Overeager, her first day on the job
A hassled woman rushes by...
She plasters a smile on her face
Poised to spray as
The woman hurries by, her annoyance apparent.

Sadness hits the woman like
A ton of bricks.
Her pride shrinks and shrinks
Pulling her body with it.
Her feet round out as her
White lab coat turns opaque

To translucent

To transparent.
Her red lips balloon out to
Form a large, inflated orb.

The essence of her
Crushed soul, liquefied
sloshes inside the phial.
Cold as ice.
She sat on the counter, waiting
Wallowing in her self-pity
After all,
She has no secrets.
