Walking

I walk for a long time
Watching the world bend
and morph with the heat
until a large tree stretches
over the train tracks
and I lay in its shade
in the rocks on the sides
of the railroad bed
far from the danger of trains
deep in the cooling blanket of shade
I relax my muscles
and sink between the rocks
