My Miracle

All he wanted was to live.
All I wanted was to help him.
His cold paws grasped my hand as I was told he'd never survive.
Together we fought.
Together we proved them wrong.
His fate was to be rescued.
My life was meant to save his.
That little boy, one day old,
Hopeless and alone.
To see him now, it's hard to believe he was so near to death.
He thanks me day in and day out,
Gives me hope and love when I've give up.
He won't let me fail; he won't let me fall.
He keeps me alive.
All he wants to do is save me.
All he wants is for me to live.
