they pinned me up,
cramming all my treasures
in this hole punched
through my brick wall.
their spastic dialogue,
convoluted monologues,
they spilled through my ears
as they cast glance
upon weary glance
and frown on me.
denying me these
insipid commodities,
they ravage and ransack,
never dropping once
their heavy bundles,
as all my belongings
are cleansed in flame.
repeatedly inhaling
this smoke, they fall
within close proximity
to ashes, inevitably
preparing to leave me blind.
