We got a tip that something was going down tonight
The Hillsboro police
Have had to deal with an unusual crime wave in the past weeks:
A lost puppy,
A stolen snicker doodle cookie from the bake sale,
But this…this was the biggest call to arms.
I got into my squad car to lead the rush
Swat team in tow.
Sirens whir through the dark Dakota night
The police cars speed down Main Street;
Left on 1st Avenue,
Right on 3rd Street,
Left on Caledonia.
Pull up to the house on the up coming corner.
The department got a tip that something was going down tonight
All the officers and swat members get out and surrounds the house
I run to the front door
Swat team goes around back.
On the count of three
One…

Two…


Three…
Kick down the door
Rush in
Knock over the light in foyer

In North Dakota it is illegal to lie down and fall asleep with your shoes on.

We find him lying on the couch in front of the TV
Three swat members surround him
The barrels of their guns pointed at him
I run to the end of the couch
Where his feet hang off
I rip his shoes off and throw them in the corner
He wakes up and runs out the back door…barefoot.
He makes it half way down the block
Before a member of the Swat team tackles him.
We put him in handcuffs
And bring him down to the station.
