You helped me out when I didn't ask
But your words were so strained that it hurt to hear them
You repeated yourself...and again it hurt
To think that you had already forgotten yesterday's words...
Yet here you are, thrice my age
And both working in a factory
Though I'm only temporary
You've been here as many years as I am old
And I wonder how you managed to last
I wonder how you've been working this hard
You're past your prime, and I haven't entered mine
I thank God for you, you know
Saying "thank you buddy" when I did nothing to help you
A smile and a frown on my face at once
You mysterious old man.
