Dreaming with Eyes Wide Open
I have a dream that you would be
The opposite of those in your family tree.
A half-hearted rendition of love so true
Would never be in the cards for you.
I see a light beneath your skin,
As the bones poke through, your body thin.
Innocent eyes shielded by a veil of lashes,
Your delicate body no longer scarred by slashes.
For in my dreams, your eyes still shine,
With every ounce of life divine.
While time slips by without a trace,
It leaves you with abounding grace.
