Use to be

Life use to be perfect,
It use to be whole,
But with one little secret,
It's no longer gold,
It was meant to protect her,
Not to worry her heart,
But instead of falling together,
It's all falling apart.

The author's comments:
The thing that inspired me was when my boyfriend told me that he had cancer. He had kept it a secret from me so that I wouldn't worry and when I found out there was a rough spot in our relationship. It straightened out though.
