"What is mine is mine and what is yours is mine also"

Swiftly, Swiftly,

The message comes through.

Swiftly, Swiftly,

The Red coats are coming.

Swiftly, swiftly,

One if by land, two if by sea.

Swiftly, Swiftly,

Two lights I see in the in the distance.

Hurry, Hurry,

Hide your savings and supplies.

Hurry, Hurry,

Women and children need to leave.

Hurry, Hurry,

Into the houses quickly!

Hurry, Hurry,

Pray for your men and your sons.

Softly, Softly,

Behind the barns and stone walls.

Softly, Softly,

Lest your footsteps be heard.

Softly softly

Watch The Redcoats come through.

Softly, Softly,

As they march to their doom.

Bravely, Bravely,

A shot pierces the night.

Bravely, Bravely,

Over and over again.

Bravely, Bravely,

Ti's no time for for the meek.

Bravely, Bravely,

Remember why we fight.

Lively, Lively,

Are our voices and our hearts.

Lively, Lively,

As we face retreating backs.

Lively, Lively,

Are our women and young ones.

Lively, lively,

As they run into outstretched arms.

Gently, Gently,

As we bury our dead.

Gently, Gently,

Our tears run freely.

Gently, Gently,

Their lives shall not be in vain.

Gently, Gently,

Dry your tears.

Gently, Gently,

Ti's only just begun.

The author's comments:
I read an article from teen inc. letter to president bush i think it's called. i could not help but think about this nation as a whole. where we are now, how we got there, sacrifices that were made, and this is the result. :)This is my First attempt at actual poetry. yes i know it's no master piece. Far from it. By all means feel free to correct. Constructive criticism makes a good writer (hopefully) i abhor fake kudos's i understand if your trying to be nice, but please be as harsh as you need be. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God Bless.
