She Wanted to Live on Friday

She wanted to leave on monday,
feel the light leave her eyes

Scratched up wrists,
sullen eyes

She wanted to scream for once
But then-

She wanted to live on friday
find the purpose we all want to serve

And she found it
in her own eyes, today.

The author's comments:
Very brief, for my style but I feel like it illuminates the highs and lows of someone facing depression or contemplating suicide and how some people do find hope.
