the crackling leaves, the crunch below
the glistening seas
and a spooky tone
the only time death has warm colors
and the only time warm colors represent death

the beauty of plain air, crisp on the face. not seen, but heard. not touched, but felt.

slapping, brusque winds are a strange refresher. this cold wake is welcome after september.

I do a magazine-style photoshoot with two of my friends every season (I'm an avid photographer), and I was excited to take pictures of my perfectly-curly locked red headed friend. Her gorgeous hair would have looked at home among the red, orange, and golden hues. However, when we finally found a free weekend, it was past the prime of the colorful season, and the October death to leaves had begun to strike. Though I thought I would be disappointed with the pictures, the varying shades of brown and crispness left an intriguing dark touch on the pictures, and I felt the atmosphere to be refreshing. It inspired this poem, which I split up into pieces as the caption of a series of photos.
