I look at her
I wipe the golden hair off of her beautiful face
She looks up from her drawing and giggles
Sarah why are you crying
How can I tell her im crying because of how much I love her
Im crying because I hate the idea of her growing up
I hate that her hand wont always fit in mine
I hate that she wont always want to smothered in hugs
and that chocolate bars wont always fix her problems
I hate the idea that someone might someday break her heart
I hate that she might not always need me because I need her
Arent the big sisters supposed to be the strong ones
Arent they supposed to be the ones that dry their younger sisters tears
Well if thats what defines a big sister than colleens being my big sister now
shes brave and caring and filled with more love than I thought was possible
How do I explain that the tears im crying arent from monsters but their good tears tears of love
but there also tears that fill my eyes because I know that life wont always be nice to her and I coundnt bear to see her hurt
for now I dont need to explain all of that I can just say these arent tears coll their raindrops from my eyes making puddles for us to jump in
