The Victory (10-9-09)
She is alone,
Searching, hunting
For shelter;
Something unknown…
The beating of the rain chills her bones
And hides the tears
That she cries.
But it doen’t take her fears
Her foot slips on the wet stones
And she lays where she fell
Unwilling to move,
Wishing away her hell.
Alone…afraid.
There is no one out there
To take the fear
Or hear her silent prayer.
She closes her eyes and drifts
Despite the painful bite of the sky.
Into light she falls
Away from the lie.
But soon everything falls back
Into the familiar, horrible reality of life
And her cry
Splits the silence like a knife.
There is nothing left
To hold
No point in getting back up…
No more light to behold.
This world of hypocrisy
Holds no place
For those who truly feel,
Those with true grace.
She must fight
Until she is defeated.
But there she will find victory;
There she will know she was not cheated.
And them?
There will be no grace…
Nothing left to fake.
Their fate, they will be forced to embrace.
She stands, embracing the familiar rain.
And closes her eyes,
Thinking of the light,
Only seen by the wise.
