Those Were The Days

All we used to know was fun
We were naïve, ignorant and blissful
Unfortunately our time has come
Now, our responsibilities are abysmal

Pressured by parents teachers and friends
All to succeed, be cool, and do well out there
I am barley 16 years of age
And honestly, I’m slightly scared

We used to be afraid of monsters and ghosts, that sort of stuff
Checking under our beds, thinking that was enough
Now we fear deadlines, homework, papers and tests
I have no time to play, I just want to get some rest

Let me tell you what being a teenager in this day and age is like
It’s not what it used to be
No longer is there science, math or even history
Instead we have U.S GOV, Algebra/Trigonometry Lab 2A and Chemistry Pre-IB

We are growing up, our friends are too
Suddenly you need to get drunk every Friday night, just to be looked at as “cool”
But not me, I don’t need to be lost in a haze
Me and my friends have enough fun, reminiscing about how “oh those were the days”
