"Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing"--Ben Franklin

She used to create paper doll chains.
Taking scissor to paper and
Sketching to sculpting
To create a chain of silhouettes

chained by the hands

herself.

She grew older.

The mirror creates paper cutouts
Its reflection, a one-sided animation— in color,
Perception is gray and Judgment, the sculptor—
Contorted truth brings the victim
Paralyzed
in the Light.
Not self-discovery…
No.
Just a
Dark shadow.
That used to create paper doll chains.

The author's comments:
I wanted to talk about society and its consistency and the fact that everyone is shaped similarly by society. I thought of the idea of paper cutouts that people cut to form long chains of people linked by the hands. I was inspired by the paper cutouts in relation to societal pressure in that society forces you to change the shape of who you are.
