Curiosity

My inquisitive eyes watch other animals as
I scurry along the jungle floor
Hiding out in mysterious places,
pursuing a weak target
I pounce on my fragile prey,
Eyeing him in confusion
I murmur “What are you?”
He remarks “A figment of your imagination.”
The victim suddenly disappears,
turning into a hallow tree branch
If some believe the “curiosity killed the cat”
Then, I’m a goner
