A Hidden Friend

You’re really gone
That can’t possibly be true
I’ll be lost and empty
I’m nothing without you
I miss your thoughts
Your feelings and fears
I want you back
I need you here
When you’re sad and gloomy
I know your pain inside
I feel your tears when you weep
The ones you try to hide
It started long ago
When you found out he was dead
Your brother Devon, who was 19
Was killed while asleep in bed
I can keep all your secrets
And you tell me about your day
You tell me about your feelings
And how you don’t want to stay
You’ve always told me everything
Ever since last June
Even when you cut yourself
Always around 30 minutes past noon
You’ve never told you parents
Cause I’m your only friend
But I’m really glad and happy
Your hurting has come to an end

But it still wasn’t long though
Until I was revealed
They read your words inside of me
Your written words revealed

I wish you didn’t go
But happy that you’re free
I hope that you are happy now
As happy as can be

I wish I could of helped you
I really wished I tried
But I am just a book
A hidden friend there by your side

Wow. This was beautiful, heartwrenching, and totally inspiring. I love how you ended with forgiveness, and how you were happy for your friend. Thank you for writing this.
