The Truth About Truth

Truth is as hard to obtain as purple lemons,
And as easy to lose as a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil

It's as shy as a new kid on her first day of school,
And as difficult to shutup as an excited toddler

Sometimes truth hurts like a stinging hangnail,
But once in a while, it gives us joy like a five-day weekend

Truth can be cold like the nights when you forget a sweater,
Or it can fire an entire village in a matter of minutes

The truth can make you laugh like a giggling tween,
Or it can drip tears from your eyes like those that fall off the outside of an ice cold glass of water

Sometimes truth can be as old as a fully grown Redwood tree,
Other times, it's newly born like a tiny, pink baby

Sometimes I hate the truth,
But I love it too

It's good,
And it's bad

And only I can decide what to believe
