The general store stood tall
But yet it was more than a store it was a home
A place where the children played
A place more than just where people lived
It was a place that people loved
A place where people showed affection
A place where memories were made.
But it was more than just a home
It was a store
A store which helped the town survive
It gave people food to eat and clothing for warmth
The store gave gifts during Christmas
And seeds for planting in the spring.
But it was more than a home and a store
It was a place that gave strength to the whole town
Now in this modern day we have no use for general stores
Today’s stores allow us to purchase many things
However they lack the intangibles the general stores brought
Like strength, affection, and warmth
That’s why the general store will live in people’s hearts and minds…

Forever
