My Muse
Jaysus, it must’ve been hard,
Growing up the way you had to.
Him not playing his part.
I don’t know what I’d do.
He should’ve taught you to cycle.
Been strict when you were naughty.
Checked your closets for monsters.
And showed you to swim in the sea
Who read you the stories,
As you went to sleep?
Who was there to hold you,
When you fell and needed to weep?
How did you know
What to do for your first date?
What did you do
If you fell out with your mate?
Jaysus it must’ve been hard,
Growing up the way had to
With him not in your life.
Ah well, what can you do?
My mam read me stories.
Woman can read to.
So I don’t know what you mean
“I don’t know what I’d do”
Riding a bike is easy.
I picked it up in a day.
And why would I ask him
About my first date anyway?
Life was much easier
Learning on my own.
Because without him
I was lucky to be shown
That I can be what I want.
And live life at my whim.
And what I really want to be,
Is absolutely nothing like him.
