Beyond Dirt
Dirt, overwhelming, sifting dirt
All I can see rising beneath my feet
As cries and anger course over me
Push me down, grind my up
Into the suffocating dirt
Can’t raise myself as dirt
Covers my eyes, fills my ears
Pollutes me to my soul
A heavy weight dragging me down
Like the Devil’s Hand
Holding, choking, killing me
To the yells of angry voices
When into the dirt comes a hand
Holding the sins of the world
But instead of keeping them
He crushes them into the dirt
Kneeling down in the dirt and sin
He reaches His hand to me
Past shame, decay, and rank
Through blood and pain
Wood and Nails
He holds the hand
Of a dirty sinner
And raises me out of the dirt
Beyond the crushed sin
Beyond the angry cries
Beyond the Devil’s Grip
To His New World
