Sports
Track and field, polo and soccer,
Fields of green, athletes sweating.
Stomping around on emerald dew.
Baseball Croquet, lacrosse and softball.
Balls are souring, sticks and bats cracking,
Worldwide activities, fans applaud.
Football, rugby, Australian rules,
Cleats, battling warriors crashing and smashing.
Blood sweat and tears, totally exhausting,
Tennis racquet ball, badminton too.
Yellow spheres hovering in air,
Birdies over nets, players diving to hit them back.
Bowling, Botchee, basketballs booming,
Concrete, marble, bricks and granite
Are the balls of these games.
Weekend warriors, twisting ankles.
Sixty Five is finally here,
Years of the rat race have flown by,
Golf and fishing are for the retired
Medicines creep through the decrepit’s crippled bodies.
