Perfection

December 2, 2010
a blank canvas,
clean slate,
fresh start,
new page.

the calm before the storm,
a single sheet of paper sits before me
each corner perfectly square
every edge straight and sharp
all the blue lines evenly spaced
casting a pure white glow on the desk
the picture of perfection.

the storm hits,
sloppy scrawl,
hasty cross outs,
eraser fragments,

this debris litters the once pristine page
its perfection ruined,
muddled by sporadic ideas
spelled out in carefully crafted words.
perfection replaced by a flawed work,
a piece of art never truly finished.
a story.
