Her nightmares
turn to reality
Her head
throbbing
Her heart rapidly
beating
Her breathing
stopped
Her chest
pounding
Her screams
Soft as a hummingbird's cry
Tears
fill her face
Fear
fills her mind
Screams break
the eerie silence
Soft as a hummingbird's cry

The author's comments:
Soft as a hummingbird's cry is about a monster that haunts me, and when I thought it was just a nightmare, I remembered how real it all was. I remember waking up in the middle of the night feeling exactly like I described in my poem and it was an emotion that I had never really felt before.
