The park by the creek,
Where the children play,
And the birds tweet-tweet as they sit perched in the trees.

The park by the creek,
With slippery slides,
And mothers with strollers enjoying a warm spring day.

The park by the creek,
A grand adventureland,
Where imagination takes flight and sours overhead.

A lasting memory,
This park by the creek,
Of simple childhood joy and worry-free fun.

Bringing family together,
This park by the creek,
To enjoy the wonder of nature, to breathe the fresh air.

Oh how I remember,
This park by the creek,
Even though it seems a thousand years have passed.

Now I must tell you,
Old park by the creek,
Of a new and popular place.

The park down the street,
Though still not the same,
Has a following all of its own.

But I'll never forget,
The park by the creek,
Where a child like me once played.

The author's comments:
This poem is about remembering the simple things that brought happiness to you as a child and how we forget them so easily now that life is so much crazier. Sometimes it is good to revisit these places that are so special to you and reminisce on the simple pleasure that it brought.
