The Moon

The light of fire
bathes the forest in light.
Wolves stop hunting
deer stop running
staring in wonder
they wonder "What will happen?"
"Will we die?" They huddle in fright.
The light turns white.
All returns to normal again.

I was inspired to write this poem after living five years in the Maine woods, 7 miles from the nearest house I was able to watch the way animals reacted to a solar eclipse. It was amazing!!!

This is a really cool poem! I can actually picture the reactions of the animals. What an interesting sight it must have been to witness.
