She walks the hallways at school with her own diary
where all of her thoughts, feelings, and poems are set free.
Her entire outlook on life at fingertips grasp
Now take a look at what is beneath its tight clasp.
For as long as she'd remembered, her brother never knew
the misery inside her heart, and how much it had grew.
While wishing he would just throw the drugs away
she gets on her knees, for words to flow through pray.
The next page is followed, by a short rhyme
about how others, can change over time.
What happened to the friendship she used to share?
But now her bestfriend conveys a harsh glare.
On page thirty I learn the meaning of betray
a pledge to keep a secret, to which they would not obey.
Followed by embarassment and anguish for a week
a trustworthy person, she wishes she could seek.
When she found this journal, her search came to an end
she didn't need anyone else, it would be her friend.
Right then did I realize, I'd be the one to betray
I knew all of her secrets, to her own dismay.
I'll lock up the journal and put it where it should belong
in the hands of its owner, now I know I'm wrong.
As crazy as it seems, the student inspired me
to let my feelings go, in my own diary.
