Why are we just friends?

You just want to be friends, I understand
But what about my heart that's breaking,
I'm afraid it won't mend
My emotions spinning out of control,
I don't know what to do
My head tells me to just let go, But my heart I can't hear,
It's silent as a meadow on a rainy day, no sound, not a noise, not that I can hear anyway,
I lay in my bed trying to make sense
Of why you just want to be friends,
Of course you don't know that I love you so,
And that I think of you every second of every day,
But I'll just lay here hoping you will change your mind,
And that my heart will stop hurting inside.
