You + me = ?

November 17, 2010
Someone should have told me that drowning feels good
That falling is easy
And that the ground doesn’t hurt
That it’s laughing that kills

Someone should have told me that lies sometimes mean I love you
That awkward silences hold small smiles
And that eyes show secrets not told
That its hugs that end it all

Someone should have told me that tears are for happiness
That annoying traits are endearing
And that sourness can sometimes taste so sweet
That kisses don’t mean everything

Someone should have told me that you were to perfect to be real
That your screams would break my heart
And you would feel hollow in my arms
That I could always reach you through the darkness

Someone should have told me that you would end it all
That you would take my heart
And make it only yours
That you would become my cage

Someone should have told me that honesty is hard
That stares are hard to read
And that three simple words are difficult to say
That loving you wouldn’t be easy

Someone should have told me that your smiles will bright up my days
That your kisses will leave me drunk
And that your heart holds my soul
That my soul warms your heart
I guess I should have told you
I love you.

Love is like Salted Vanilla. An occasional quark or annoying habit keeps your taste buds, and your heart, from becoming jaded. And yes, good poem. I honestly don't have that much of an ear for poetry, but I enjoyed this, so well done.
