Revelation
From the ground whence we came to the city that lies
Before us, we make our mark. We walk empty streets
Feeling empty, all we can see is what damage we left.
Tears flow down my face as if to wash it all away, but
They don’t prevail. To see the shadowed stain on each
New place makes me feel mixed up. As I walk these
Streets alone, I am washed away by a flood of
Memories, how it all happened, so quickly. I often
Wondered if I had chosen a different path, would my
Outcome be changed? Would death forgive me once
Again for being absent? Yet through it all, the pain cuts
Deeper than that. No matter how we try to cover up the
Scars, they remain etched in, like this town.
