I Remeber
I remember
that one day
when I sat next to you
and talked away,
you smiled and laughed
and held my hand,
you seemed so alive
but yet so undead.
I remember that day
when I came home to boxes
your mom said
"it's time for us to leave"
tears sprang to my eyes
I didn't want to lose
my very true best friend.
I remember the letters you wrote
the pictures you took
the drawings you sent.
I remember that one day
back in June
when you came to see me
the day we spent
under the moon
with food and blankets
and the memories we shared.
I remember that morning
two years ago
I awoke to a call on the phone
the doctor said
"I'm so sorry."
I knew then that our time was over.
I remember you.
I love you.
I promise never to forget
that last day.
