With arms wide open,
Life welcomes us and smiles,
asking us if we might care to stay awhile.
Well the wind blows cold and it’s scary alone
so we accept and agree,
and we are free until the naïvety slips away,
placing a quiet knowledge in our hands,
leaving us not knowing where we stand.
Ignorance follows
and Life swallows us up.
Pounding on the walls, we’re locked in time.
Our knuckles ache and our hearts shatter
but once we break, it doesn’t matter.
We are united so we try to fight it;
a crime in itself,
but without somebody else, what is there left to live for?
We were alone before
and now we’re begging for more.
Life tricked us into independence
but we’re moving along with a fistful of vengeance.
So we run back and forth and we crash through barriers,
and now somehow,
we learned to understand what it meant to hold Life in the palm of our hands.
