You are the trophy child
I am the consolation ribbon
Always one step behind
Always cringing in your shadow

Your will and determination unmatchable
Your hard work and shining accomplishments incredible
Never miss a step
Never stop for breath

Why are you such a perfectionist?
Isn't anything good enough for you?
No. You have to be the best
You refuse to settle for anything else

The dear parents praise you
Place their trophy high on a pedistole
But I, of little significance
Am tucked out of sight

A mere ribbon can never compare to a trophy
No one brags about a consolation prize
It's just tossed aside out of the way
Only wasting space
