You said once that
You were dying inside
Every moment
Of every single time
That you wished
You were somewhere else
And
I simply
Watched then
And wondered
Who it was that I
Thought you had been
Before all this
Before both of us
Had entirely
Involved ourselves
In such a mess
You said
Wishing was working
Just fine
But it was you
Wearing blood all
Over your hands.
As if you stood
Some small sort of chance.
And you still said
That you were dying inside
Every moment
Of every single time
That you wished you
Were anybody else.
