She cannot fall asleep.
Shaking she lies, awake because her dreams feed her addiction.
She cannot speak her mind.
Slient she lies, waiting for the phone to stop ringing.
She cannot forgive herself.
Hurt she lies, pretending that she doesnt need you.
She cannot move forward.
Still she lies, reassuring the world shes okay.
She cannot be left alone.
Surrounded she lies, she likes it better this way.
She cannot live.
So she lies, without you.

The author's comments:
I wrote this peace when I was fifteen and knew that everyone in my life wanted me to leave my boyfriend, he was bad news, but I felt like I had to stay with him because I was codependent on him. I wrote this peace to discribe how being codependent feels, so that others who struggle to over come codependency can have something to relate to.
