"Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes."

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me?
This is what parents have tried to embed into our brains early
Hoping that when it came down to the real hurtful words
That we would be able to brush it off and say “oh they’re just words”
Unfortunately no matter how many times we say it
It will never be true which is hard to admit
Your teen years, those are the years when your parents pray
That all their parenting has worked and that everything will be okay
And we all just wonder, were you ever a teen?
Or have you just forgot what it means to be a teen
Elementary school was heaven, Middle school was limbo and High school is hell
Where the past is not the past but there’s no time to dwell
This is where guys don’t care and girls do nothing but care
Whether it’s about who’s dating who, or if it’s who has the best clothes and hair
Here is when people **** talk but can’t walk the walk with grace
Because if they could they wouldn’t fall flat on their face
High School is when guys’ immaturity is shown and girls’ claws come out
And where more lies then the truth get spread about
Girls either let the slightest thing upset them or try hard not to let anything faze them
Guys are either in or out no discussion is held with them
Separation is established through cliques
That is defined by other cliques
Then in every high school you have the loners
Who don’t belong to a group of friends, but a group of other loners
They walk, sit, and eat alone
While everyone passes by, looks at them and leaves them alone
This is also the place that created most adults insecurities
Causing most high school negativities
Used to only be rumors spread by mouth to hear and by repeating
Now the WE generation has created cyber bullying
Things can be said about everyone
And nothing can ever be done
Until someone dies over it
And people are ashamed to admit
That something could have been done about all of this
But now it’s too late and somebody’s family must morn and reminisce
People make others feel so low to the point of suicide just so that they can feel so high
Even if everything they say is just one big fat lie
The whole school still buys in
And the one being talked about isn’t supposed to give in
Because we were taught that words can never hurt us
No they don’t hurt us they kill us
So sticks and stones may break our bones but words will make us take our own life
We will either use a rope, drugs or maybe a knife
And when we are gone others will either morn or say we shouldn’t have let it bother us
But everyone has their opinion I guess
We all are who we are and will never be accepted by everyone
When we finally comprehend that then we will be free from everyone
And then maybe the deaths will stop
And then just maybe the bullying will stop
But maybe that will only happen in a perfect world
