Break and Broken
I met you on the corner of break and broken
Two shreds of a person wandering around,
ended up on that street knowing,
that there would be nothing there for me
I don't know how to care,
and I never lived life from someone else's shoes,
but breathing that cold humid air,
when you were crying on that street corner,
asking me those questions,
i want to take your part,
and stand in your shoes,
hold the weight of that blade,
poised on the tip of your heart
And you took me into you,
we spun and spun and spun,
in our dizzying array of moon and sun
the world was nothing to us,
another distraction of the joy standing in front of me
And the sun fell for the moon,
drowning it's cold surface in warm golden light
taking away it's lonely night
but all good things must come to an end,
and night must come,
the moon was never meant to be seen with the sun
and it moved away,
eclipsing the light I sent to you
And it cracked and it froze and it fell,
and then you stopped coming,
sitting in my apartment,
curled up on the couch alone,
without your hands to warm mine
i cried again for the first time that day
I met you on the corner of break and broken
Two shreds of a person wandering around,
ended up on that street knowing,
that there would be nothing there for me
