I was focused on one thing.
Determined after all my training.
I step up.
Whiss-smack!
The first one hits its target.
My legs are shaking.
Before I know it,
Whiss-smack!
The second one hits its target.
My whole body is shaking.
Whiss-Crack!
I reach for my head,
I feel a warm tingling sensation spread throughout my body.
I run, crazily, knowing safety is my destination.
I run until I fear the end is near.
I throw off my helmet.
The next thing I know I am being mobbed by my fellow soldiers.

I'm an avid baseball player. After reading 'Hunger Games' by Susan Collins, images of what is perceived as fearful came to my head. I translated that fear into a experience that I could relate to with a twist at the end.
